The Benedict House for Pastors
Barna Research found that over 40% of pastors in active ministry today are seriously considering abandoning their calling. Of these pastors, most cite stress, burnout, and feeling lonely and isolated in their work as reasons for dropping out of the ministry.
Our founder and Chaplain, Jerry Cimijotti, has been a pastor for 36 years, and he can empathize with this plight. There have been seasons of burnout, unrelenting stress and anxiety, and dreams of greener pastures. He can’t count the number of times he has wanted to throw in the towel. What has sustained him, in large part, are the spiritual retreats he takes each year.
"It's estimated that around 7,000 churches close in America each year. It's estimated that around 1,500 pastors leave the ministry each year due to moral failure, strife, or burn-outs. It's estimated that only 10% of a given congregation are living as active disciples of Jesus. Something's gotta change..."
