The Need Is Real
There are very few opportunities available for clergy to immerse themselves in a setting where retreat, prayer, and community are wed together for spiritual renewal.
In 2022 Barna Research reported that:
• 42% of pastors are giving serious consideration to quitting their ministry.
• 56% of pastors reported as currently experiencing 'immense' stress.
• 43% of pastors today feel “lonely and isolated.”
Frequently Asked Questions:
-
What Is the Program?
There are no programs. No seminars, group discussions, scheduled activities. The goal is rest and spiritual renewal. Each pastor will do these things in a way that most benefits him.
This will happen when pastors can retreat from the works of service and the cares of everyday life. They will be given the freedom to focus on prayer and meditation on God's Word [see the story of Martha and Mary in Luke 10.38-42]. Ideally, most clergy will do this in community with other pastors. St. Benedict emphasized the need for retreat, prayer and community. These core values have been treasured throughout the history of the Church which is why we have adopted them as our focus.

Why the Focus on Pastors?
Barna Research found that over 40% of pastors in active ministry today are seriously considering abandoning their calling. Of these pastors, most cite stress, burnout, and feeling lonely and isolated in their work as reasons for dropping out of the ministry.
Our founder and Chaplain, The Rev. Jerry Cimijotti, has been a pastor for 35 years, and he can empathize with this plight. He has experienced seasons of burnout, unrelenting stress and anxiety, and dreams of greener pastures. Numerous times he has wanted to throw in the towel. What has sustained him, in large part, are the spiritual retreats he takes each year.

What Are We Waiting For?
We are just beginning our fundraising efforts. The response from pastors, families and churches, with whom we have shared this vision, has been enthusiastic and generous.
We are hoping that you share the unique vision of The Benedict House and our desire to bless those faithfully serving in their pastoral callings. All pastors want to serve from a heart of devotion to our Lord and the Faith. Providing an opportunity to retreat and pray, while in community with others who face similar ministry struggles, will give their congregations eternal benefits.
